Generac Generator Installation Across Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts

Generac standby generator installed at a Rhode Island home

Rhode Island gets hit hard. Ice storms, nor'easters, hurricane remnants, and summer thunderstorms knock power out across the state every year. Some outages last hours, some last days. If you heat with oil or propane, a power outage shuts your heating system down too, because the burner, circulator, and thermostat all need electricity to run.

A Generac standby generator solves that. It sits outside your home, connects to your electrical panel, and kicks on automatically within seconds of an outage. No extension cords, no manual startup, no hauling gasoline. It runs on natural gas or propane and powers your home until the grid comes back.

Dupuis Energy exclusively installs Generac generators, and our technicians are Generac-trained and certified. We handle the full job: sizing, permitting, concrete pad, gas line, electrical connection, and final inspection. It's part of our full equipment installation work. Always-On Power

What a Standby Generator Does for Your Home

A Generac home standby generator installs permanently outside your home, similar to a central AC unit. It connects to your electrical panel and runs on natural gas or propane. Here's what that gives you.

Automatic Startup

When the power goes out, the generator detects it and starts within seconds. No switches, no cords, no trips to the garage. If you're asleep or away, it handles itself.

Whole-Home or Partial

Depending on size, you can power the whole home or just the circuits that matter most: heating, refrigerator, well pump, lights, sump pump, and medical equipment.

No Gasoline Needed

Unlike portable units, a Generac standby runs on your existing natural gas line or propane tank. No storing gas cans, no refueling in the dark during a storm.

Mobile Link Monitoring

Every Guardian Series generator includes Mobile Link, so you can check status from your phone, tablet, or computer and get real-time alerts from anywhere.

Protects Your Heat

Oil and propane heat need electricity for the burner, circulator, and controls. A generator keeps your heating system running so a winter outage doesn't mean frozen pipes.

Financing Available

Flexible financing is available on every generator installation, so backup power fits your budget.

Our Process

How We Size and Install Your Generator

Every home is different. A 2,000-square-foot colonial with oil heat, a well pump, and a sump pump needs a different generator than a 1,200-square-foot ranch on city water. Here's how we figure out what you need.

1

Power Load Calculation

We add up the wattage of everything you want covered: heating system, refrigerator, lights, well pump, sump pump, garage door, medical equipment, and anything else that matters. That total sets the generator size.

2

Fuel Source

Generac generators run on natural gas or propane. If you're already on propane delivery with us, we connect to your existing tank. If you have a natural gas line, we tap into that.

3

Placement & Permitting

The generator needs a level concrete pad and must meet setback requirements from your property line, windows, and gas meters. We handle the pad, placement, and any permits your town requires.

4

Electrical Connection

We install a transfer switch on your panel that automatically routes power from the generator to your home when the grid goes down. It's code-required and professionally wired by our team.

5

Timeline

Most installations take 1 to 2 days once the equipment arrives and the pad is poured. We coordinate the full process so you're not chasing subcontractors.

Generator Installation FAQ

How much does a Generac generator installation cost?
It depends on the generator size (whole-home versus partial coverage), your fuel hookup, the concrete pad, permitting, and the electrical work your home needs. We give you a clear, itemized quote at the free estimate, and financing is available.
How long does a generator installation take?
Most installations take 1 to 2 days once the equipment arrives and the pad is poured. We coordinate the pad, gas line, electrical connection, and inspection so you're not managing separate subcontractors.
Does the generator turn on automatically?
Yes. The transfer switch detects the outage and starts the generator within seconds, with no action from you. It powers your home until the grid comes back, then shuts down on its own.
What fuel does the generator use?
Generac standby generators run on natural gas or propane. If you're on propane delivery with us, we connect the generator to your existing tank. If you have a natural gas line, we tap into that instead.
Do I need a generator if I have oil heat?
Oil and propane heating systems still need electricity to run the burner, circulator, and controls, so a power outage means no heat. A standby generator keeps your heating system running and protects your home from frozen pipes.
